Valid will – A grant of Probate is a legal document issued by the Supreme Court that provides the executor of an estate with the authority to manage and distribute assets and pay the liabilities of a deceased estate.

No will or no valid will – A grant of Letters of Administration is a legal document issued by the Supreme Court that provides the administrator of an estate with the authority to manage and distribute assets and pay the liabilities of a deceased estate.

A grant of Probate or Letters of Administration may not be necessary depending on the value of the estate and the nature of the assets.

A grant of Probate or Letters of Administration should be filed within 6 months from the date of death of the deceased. Applications made after 6 months will require an additional explanation for the delay.
